I've been talking and talking about getting up in the morning and going for a bike ride, so when 6 am rolled around this morning, I finally did it. It helped that I got to sleep before 11, that the bedroom was filled with sunlight, and that our new neighbor was having a coughing fit behind a very thin wall. So I did it.

And damn, it was hard. Maybe it was that I didn't stretch, or that I had wrenched myself out of my warm, cozy, soft bed to go bouncing down the gravel trail, but I was weak. I rode for 20 minutes, 4.5 miles, and turned around to go back. So I did about 9 miles. I wimped off the trail at the end and went onto the nice pavement of the subdivision (which I wasn't sure I could get out of, but eventually managed to do. Subdivisions are confusing like that - all cul de sacs and no outlets.).

Also, I got chased by a dog. As I'm going down the trail, a dog starts barking from someone's back yard (private property abuts the trail) and I see it charge up the embankment toward me. I just keep going, but when I hear its barking get louder, I go faster. It must have decided I was no longer a threat, because when I glanced back, I no longer saw it. Now, this was a dog on the order of a beagle, so not the world's most threatening beast, but I certainly didn't want to stop and have a conversation with it.

Because, I think, I actually got some exercise in the morning, I was extra hungry for lunch, so Daniel and I met up at the local Thai place for some yummy thai food. I got the fried rice which I finished only moments ago, finding myself peckish around 9:30. Going to lunch on a weekday is a rare luxury.

Lots going on at work. We got the sign up in the lobby, and the docent station is in. I posted about it on my work blog. So those things are pretty neat. I'm in the middle of re-sorting and re-filing 40 years worth of files. It's a long process, but I feel the results will be worth it.

I got the swimsuit I ordered, but the halter neck isn't comfortable at all. I am sad. I should have known. Halters and I have never gotten along, but this was such a good deal. Le sigh.

I'm really excited to be heading to WI. I'm trying to will time to pass faster. I've booked the flights, the rental car, and the shuttle to the airport. So we're all set in the transportation department! Now to figure out how we're going to survive Saturday after the red-eye - only a 4.5 hour flight, so only a nap, really. I foresee napping and caffeine. I think I remember seeing a Starbucks cart at the Milwaukee airport....
