Aug. 29th, 2008 08:10 amPost surgery and I feel pretty good. I mean, I feel so good I almost feel like I should go into work. My last dose of vicodin was around 6 pm and Advil was around 9:30, and I woke up with no pain. My throat is a little sore, but I'm not surprised given the tiny size of my mouth. I did spit a little blood, which I think came from the lower left socket. I took a couple more advil this morning because I guess a dental professional told Daniel we should head off the pain, not react to it. It may get worse, I don't know how these things work, but until then I plan to keep away from the vicodin (and the anti-nausea meds that I take with it).
They were sure right about the sedation. It was an IV sedation. I remember them putting in the needle (I recommended my left arm, but they looked at my right before going to the left where I have a permanent hold from blood donation). And I remember them beginning to put the oxygen on my nose, but nothing after that. No sensation of half awarenes - just out and then being roused an hour later and moved to a wheel chair and then to a comfy recliner.
Oh, and I get to keep my upper right wisdom tooth, because it is tucked safely in my nasal cavity. I asked if I could get a copy of the image and they said sure, and mentioned something about a follow up appt. It is really spectacular up there: Dark nasal cavity: clearly defined white tooth hanging out at the bottom of it. I keep thinking about what a cool skull mine would be to excavate; that's the anthropologist's viewpoint right there.
And the lady business also seems to be fine. Huzzah for (probably) worrying too much!
