Ugh. Now I am worrying that the spiders I have seen in the past couple of days are Hobo spiders. I killed one at work and one at home. I took photos of the one at work, so I will have to upload those and check them against the internet's information.

The spider has a wing span of a couple of inches and a body under an inch. And it's definitely brown. Ugh. I hate big spiders with big bodies. Daddy long legs, with their tiny little bodies, are fine by me. But otherwise, no way. I am okay with spiders outside, in corners, and generally not near me. But if it is big and may potentially be in my hair or my bed, I am not into it and will demand that it be killed.

Ugh. I hear ya. At the house the other night I saw two very very large spiders. They are going to be asked to leave the premises.

If you have a serious concern that this might be a Hobo Spider after looking at the pictures, I'd suggest sending the picture to either the spider guy at the Burke or perhaps if there is an entomologist on the campus you could send it to them. While somewhat nerve racking that it's a venomous spider it seems very much like the Brown Recluse/Fiddleback we have in Oklahoma. At first I freaked out when I found one on the trap but then I learned they are just in high numbers around here (during the summer I find probably 5-20 each cycle) and they aren't aggressive so they really won't bite unless they happen to get in your clothes and you accidentally press them to your skin. It sounds like these Hobos are the same way. But yeah big spiders are no fun at all! I can't wait until summer is over and the insect population goes back down . . .

Wow those are very similar to our venomous spider here at least shape/size wise though our guys are a bit lighter.
