Oct. 27th, 2007 08:17 pmTerrible headache. I seem to be getting them every week or two. It gets worse when I lean forward or bend over. There's always something I can manage to complain about.
We went to Yakima today. For shopping. Lordy that was depressing. Yakima has all the stores, but is not good for shopping anyway. Well, not all the stores. But many mainstream commercial stores. I managed to get one cardigan for work (ShopKo). And I got a pair of 1970s style plaid red fleece pajama pants (Gottschalks). They are the awesome.
And this dress from Target, which requires a button down shirt under it. But it is a surprisingly excellent dress. I shall call it my librarian dress (with due respect to librarians on my list). Also it is 50% off instore.
I also picked up a pair of Rocket Dog shoes. Big chunky mary-jane style things with a little elastic strap - probably a style from a couple years ago. Thrift store for 2.99. I have a shoe problem. But if it's for 2.99, it's not a huge problem, financially.
But the loveliest find was three umbrellas at a Value Village. They're wonderful vintage cloth umbrellas/parasols. One is red, with a little hem that lays beyond the spines and sways when you move. One has red, yellow and blue polka dots, about an inch in diameter each. And the other has little flowers on it. And they all belonged to the same little girl. I know, because Jamie Shirley wrote her name on each of them. Of course, I plan to resell them, but I adore being able to have this vision in my head of some little girl playing dress up years ago.
And that was our big day out. In Yakima. It was not the kind of successful, low price shopping I was hoping for. Plus I hate crowds. Especially ones with lots of strollers. Sigh. See? Always something to complain about.
