Dream talk
Oct. 21st, 2007 10:15 amSo I had a dream last night.
It was a Star Trek: The Next Generation dream. I kid you not. It was kind of like I was watching it in my dream, because I don't remember being involved in it, just watching. And it would be a a pretty good episode, I think. Here's what I remember:
The ship is in ruins. All of the glass computer panels have fallen into tiny piles of glass pebbles/debris. (I should mention, there are none of the usual sets, I just KNEW it was the Enterprise.) Everything is kind of dark. Beverly and Wesley Crusher are sitting on a bench against a wall (it kind of looks like a castle wall, but it might just be grey and dark). It's clearly a later season episode, as Wesley is wearing his Star Fleet Academy uniform. (This is the point at which I think I may have been "watching" the dream, because I actively kind of groaned and said, oh Wesley's back. Not that we don't love Wesley, it's just he's such a Mary Sue.)
Somehow, we discover that the crew have woken up after about 40,000 years of sleep, or stasis, or something, which only affected them, and not the ship, as the ship looks like it's been though about 40,000 years of deterioration. There's a nearby planet or colony, which is called Ohio.
Beverly and Wesley goes up to this room. I get the sense it was some sort of science lab to which Wesley was attached. He finds all the monitors to be piles of glass debris and becomes very upset. He smashes his fists against the glass debris, hurting himself. He's crying, clearly distraught and having trouble with the situation. Beverly pulls him away from the debris and comforts him.
Then there's this outside shot of the ship. Not shiny and pretty, but covered in space barnacles and braken. In fact, it looks nothing like the Enterprise, but I know it is. Something detaches from or leaves the ship. It is also braken covered.
Then we're on the planet surface. The away team, of which I don't have a clear sense of who they are, get out of the shuttle and encounter some people of Ohio. The Ohio-ans begin to explain something about how there's a dichotomy in their society and something about the tensions that causes.
And that's all I know. Daniel tells me I am writing fan fiction. I deny that. This is the shit that my uber-nerdy subconscious comes up with while I'm asleep.
I'm glad for the ubernerd dream, because the last two nights of dreams have mostly involved people being shot and tortured. Which is not fun.
