I am totally influenced by the things I see on television. Like tonight, I was watching multiple episodes of Miami Ink.

I love tattoos, love to stare at them, would love to have the guts to ask people about them sometimes. Especially sleeves. <3 sleeves. Never seriously considered one (tattoo, not sleeve) for myself because I am usually quite flippant and nothing really sticks with me, insofar as images I might brand on my body. Also, I am a jiggly person and would be concerned with how permanent ink would work with potentially expanding/contracting jiggles.

But I thought of one. An old school sparrow like the ones in this image. Just one, on my right shoulder. Blue and red.

Will I act on this? Probably not. I imagine now is one of those times when people discourage you making a choice like this. We'll see how the idea grows on me. Probably influenced by all the profiles of people getting memorial tattoos on the show. Thus the sheep icon, usually reserved for surveys and memes.

I too have always contemplated getting a tattoo. But then a Simpson's episode got me thinking. It's the one where grandpa and Mr. Burns are the last two members of a secret society and want to knock the other off to get the looted Nazi paintings. In it he shows Bart his tattoo of the society's logo but it's all wrinkly and he has to stretch his skin to get it recognizable. And that makes me not want one anymore. Between that flab and wrinkles when I get old, it just won't be pretty.

I think you should do it. I very nearly got a memorial tattoo for someone a few years back and now I think I should have done it then, right then. It would have given me something to take care of and worry over then, and it would be more firmly rooted in the moment than if I did it now.

But that's me and my tattoo-feelings.

FWIW, I don't have any tattoos. Jen's working on a lovely sleeve, though.
