Jul. 19th, 2007 06:49 pmA lucky break may have secured us a pretty decent apartment. We went to see the place in the country I mentioned yesterday. Gorgeous place. Tiny, but amazing - hardwood floor, cute curtains, one of those window seats. We filled out the rental app and when we brought it over to the woman in charge of renting, she mentioned that she had two more properties available in town. One of which was both larger than the one we'd just seen and like 8 blocks from where I'll be working.
It happened that she was going to be in town later, so we got to take a look at it. It hadn't been listed yet. It's got partial hardwood floors, a very retro green bathroom, and a tiny stove. These are not bad things. It's larger than our current apartment and costs $200 less per month than our rent did before we went month-to-month. Plus water/sewer is included, which we're currently paying now. So we'd be paying for electric and phone.
The woman said, more or less, that the apartment would be ours pending a non-negative reference from our current property management. Which we'll get since we've never been late on rent and that's about the extent of what they can say.
So this looks positive.
