Jun. 19th, 2007 09:52 pmCamping was great. Aside from freezing my nose off while trying (rather unsuccessfully to sleep). We wandered the rain forest, played on a pacific beach (I saw my first wild starfishes!), and drove to the top of a mountain. Plus we saw the world's largest red cedar tree and the world's largest Sitka Spruce tree, and a pretty big sitka spruce. World's largest is what they said on the plaque, anyway. It was good. And I'm tuckered out.
I got home to the email confirming that the grad school is going to give me my degree (woot!) and an email asking for a phone interview on Thursday morning. This particular job posted on May 24th, closed June 11th, they emailed me today and want the interview on Thursday. I think they're looking to hire, and hire fast. The institution is an art museum with extensive ethnographic holdings. It recently moved from being a gallery to a museum. It's university based and in Ohio. The position currently has two years of funding. I have all the qualifications they ask for in the job posting. I am doing that thing where I get too excited before I have the interview. And the interview is me talking to at least three people on the other end of the line, which will be a brand new experience. Eek!

Date: 2007-06-20 05:10 am (UTC)I do that thing where I get excited before a job interview too, and I imagine myself in the job.
The nice thing about a phone interview is you can have notes on anything you think they might ask about all spread out in front of you. Some say it's also good to have notecards with the names of the people and look at the cards and pretend you're talking to the real person.
I recently had my first phone group interview. Usually with group interviews they'll take turns asking the questions.

Date: 2007-06-20 05:29 am (UTC)I've practically got a system for phone interviews at this point: List of strengths, weaknesses, why I want the job, questions. Glass of water. I think I'm getting worked up because I honestly feel qualified for the job, more so than all but one of the jobs I've interviewed for. And thanks for the insight.
