May. 16th, 2007 10:55 pmright. So I sent my final draft to my committee. Truth be told, it's not final final. It still needs to run through the grad school formatting check, probably needs at least another proofreading, and I might give it another Appendix (List of Resources). Oh and my citations are probably not all formatted perfectly. And I need to write an abstract. But these are trifles. Trifles!
Also, truth be told, it is not perfect. There are things that I think it could benefit from, but, given my schedule, I don't have the time to go after them. I think it's defensible, I really do. I hope my committee agrees.
I sent it off and then started playing with Google SketchUp. I'm using 3D modeling software to create a 2D floor plan for my group's fake museum. I'm not that great at it, but hey, it's something. Very cool toy though, especially for free.
I took a shower and my back doesn't hurt. There's this momentary exhilaration from the freedom. A nagging "what if this sucks too much" but mostly, "Yay! It's done!" There is that nagging problem of having never got feedback on the first draft from my committee chair, but my timetable does not permit me to wait anymore than I did. Guess I'll keep my fingers crossed on that one.
We have Pan's Labyrinth sitting atop the tv now. Never managed to see it in the theatres, but we got it first line from Netflix, which is nifty. Haven't been in a serious movie kind of mood lately though, been a bit distracted. Am watching season 2 of the new Dr. Who. Very nice. Very nice. Good classic costuming, too.
I go back to work tomorrow. I've been skipping out on them a lot. I'm so grateful they're understanding about it. Two of my four bosses have their MA from this program, so they do understand what I'm up to. I'm not twindling my thumbs here. I'm kinda looking forward to my files and my silly archives tomorrow. And making some money. This thesis has cost me a lot of money, and that doesn't even include the bindery fees I'll need to pay. That'll be quite a lot. Over $90 I think, for the two library copies, the museology copy, and a copy for me. But that's still two steps ahead. I need to defend and pass before that happens.
