I may have mentioned this but:

There's this local weather guy. His name is Andy Wappler. Wappler, rhymes with doppler, like the rader used by weather guys. But they never say "Andy Wappler and his pinpoint Doppler." No. It's Storm Tracker 7.

They're missing out on some rhyming gold here.

Oh, I forget you're not from here.

Andy is a second generation meteorologist. His dad's name was Harry.

Harry was the first to bring doppler to the NW, I think. He was with Kiro most of his professional weather forcasting career.

And they called it Harry Wappler and the Doppler Radar. He was always like 'Oop! Let's look at the Wappler Doppler!'

Kiro switched over to OMGSTORMTRACKER7 about 5-7 years ago.

Oh Kiro. How I love thee.

I don't know what's scarier, that this actually exists as a part of Seattle history, or that you simply accept it as a part of local nostalgia.

The scary part is that she left out the local comedy show's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Almost_Live) version of the story:

"KIRO this week brought online their new radar system called the 'Wappler Doppler.' They chose the name because too many people giggled when they said 'Harry Doppler.'"
