froggy_dearSo we just got back from seeing Serenity. It was a free sneak preview. Now. I am a biased observer. I went in with a love of Firefly. Not the love that many others in the theatre had. I could sing alond with the theme song, but I found myself lost when they sang "The Man They Call Jayne." Possibly the best audience to see it with.
The movie itself: Hell yeah! I was curious to see how they introduced the characters, since not everyone can be expected to have seen the television format of the show. I think they did a good job. I mean it was clear that they had a background with each other and with outside characters that showed up, but not a background that you had to fully (or paritally) understand to enjoy the film.
The movie was funny. The movie was action packed. I do like me some explosions. The movie pulled deeply at your heartstrings. Well maybe not. Or maybe. I guess it depends how deeply devoted to it you are.
But do go see this film. Go see it if you like to laugh. Go see it if you like explosions. Go see it if you're looking to do something this weekend. Go see it so that they'll make a sequel. Then go out and buy the dvd set or borrow it from your local lending library. Just go see the movie.
