Have just finished with Sarah Vowell's Assassination Vacation on audio cd. Amusing, informative, and cute. Worth it just for Brad Bird reciting Charles Gatteau's death verses. Well, and the other amusement and information. But the death verses are PRICELESS.

Okay, so again... Jim LOVED that book. Of course, he liked "Assassins" before that (it's pretty much the only musical he can stand) so I had to listen to the "I am going to the lordy" bits and the Gun Song for several weeks there. I'm sorry now that we didn't have the audiobook; I would have loved to hear Conan as Abe Lincoln.

Jim LOVES telling people about Jinxy McDeath. You have no idea. (Well, maybe you do since you just read this awesome book.)

My friend [livejournal.com profile] piratelemur (the one who got me into knitting) was doing that 10 books meme and one of Sarah Vowell's other books was on there... i forget the title-- something about cannoli?-- but it's about being different from your family ahd trying to learn more about your heritage or something. i will have to get it from the library or Half Price Books.

I've never seen Assassins... don't see many shows, really. :)

The Conan thing... He's really not funny. Mostly he's just saying things. Brad Bird is the funny one, as far as the voice acting goes.

And the audiobook is abridged somehow - how much I don't know and in what parts I couldn't tell you... since it's the only version I've had. :)

Nonetheless, it was good and delightful and a damn useful thing for driving across Dakota.
