My short term memory can be exceedingly short term. Several times today I began to do something, got halfway to doing it and couldn't remember what I had been up to in the first place.
Then there's the occasional number dyslexia. At work last Monday someone asked me what the price of something was. I glanced at the tag and told them $35. Then they said no it's not, it's $53, see? And so it was. I've always done this when saying 4s and 7s, but the 3-5 thing is new. I worry about my brain. What did I ever do to it?
A girl came by the sale today and we were chatting a little about things. She said, "you look familiar, did we go to school together?" I look at her and am pretty sure we weren't in high school together. "What's your name?" says I.
"Jenny."
"Jenny....?"
"Jenny P"
I stop for a few moments as the name rings a bell... NO WAY!
"You worked in Sissel's lab! The archeaology lab!"
"Yeah!"
And so on. We sort of figured out how we were in the same place now.
Seriously. She wasn't in the lab that long... I primarily remember her name from the data input sheets. And from what I recall she wasn't very good at the lithics thing. She's from the area and seems to have moved within walking distance of my mom's house after graduating from college. How crazy is that? I mean really. Of the like 10 people tops that I worked with in the lab and the say 50-75 (guessing high maybe) that came to the sale today.... That someone with that tenuous a connection should show up and trace that connection......
Coincidences man.... they freak me out. Especially ones as freak and random as this.
