It's spelled with a T! And ever since I learned the word in second grade or something I've been pronouncing it with an N! Jeepers


Also, I hate scansion. All those little ticks and exes and it's all so subjective and I don't truly understand the point of it. No, maybe I do - to understand the structure of the poem more easily. But I can't do those sorts of things that I think are supposed to be instinktive.

We ate chicken for supper.

A lot of people have trouble scanning poems. I did initially, and then I felt like something just clicked and I got a lot better at it all of a sudden. (I think having learned foreign languages helps, since it makes you more conscious of where you place accents in ordinary speech.) I try to work out some kind of constant rhythm within my own pieces now, even when I'm not using traditional forms.
