I have immersed a blender. I succeeded in transforming a peach, a scoop of ice cream, and some milk into a cold and slightly pulpy liquid. It was tasty anyway.

I watched Palin's speech tonight. I will look forward to the debates.

Happy birthday.

I don't own a blender, mainly because with it I would probably turn my hand into a lot of blood.

According to NPR, Palin didn't write the speech; the McCain campaign wrote it.

Thanks.

Yeah, I heard that the speech had to be "feminized" because it was written with a more "masculine" tone originally. Whatever that means. Perhaps the attacks were less snarky and more direct?

I hate how many comments I make in your livejournal sound like a miogynist asshole commentating on the women in society, as being typed by a phallocentric douchebag living in an ivory tower. Regardless, here's one of them.

The problem faced by women candidates seems to be a question of strength, broadly defined. A woman who has a perceived weakness suffers from a multiplier effect, where even a slight weakness is broadcasted as a big weakness. Yet a woman who shows "too much" strength, however that's defined, is labelled a cunt.

If I were to make a horrible analogy, I would liken it to atheism in society. An atheist who makes a passionate speech is considered "angry" or "militant" but a priest who makes a speech with the same amount of passion would be considered "passionate" or "great speaker." It's not logical, but neither are people.

Regardless, this is pro-click on the gender card: http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=184086
