Nov. 30th, 2008 04:04 pmDaniel and I had a nice Thanksgiving weekend roadtrip. We left Friday morning and drove to Olympia, WA where we stayed at the Phoenix Inn, which was the cheapest hotel on the internet, even though it is a very nice hotel with an enormous room and a large continental breakfast. We wandered around the few square blocks of downtown shops they had and found a few christmas gifts.
Saturday Morning we headed out to the Pacific Ocean. It was misty/rainy all day, but not freezing cold. We stopped for lunch at the cafe in Quinault, which serves a very respectable cheeseburger for a cafe inside a general store.
The ocean seemed to be at high tide and seemed more active than we'd seen it previously. The first video below is taken from an overlook above the beach. That wood being washed in the waves? Tree trunks. Not to messed around with, the Pacific Ocean.
We went down to a couple of beaches in Olympic National Park. By the end, I had taken off my hat and hood and was just getting rained on. I think that's coming back to bite me today - I feel like I'm coming down with something. Worth it, though.
