And the drama continues...
Nov. 11th, 2005 11:47 pmSo. It sounds like we may not get back into our apartment until Wednesday. Because the company needs three days to re-do the ceiling, and they do not work on weekends. Which I'm sure they enjoy. All of this is of course super-shiny-wonderful, especially since we leave on a jet plane Thursday. Yippee.
In the meantime, it's like living in limbo. I have no phone, I'm stealing internets, and there's nowhere to sit except the floor. Which is fine, except the only place to steal a decent internet connection from is in the window sill, which involves kneeling and my knees hurt. Anyway, I am an increasingly less happy camper. Plus, getting anything from the apartment is difficult because it is all piled up on one side of the studio apartment. And we're hoarders. We like having stuff. Getting stuff is fun and exciting, and having it is good too. So there's a lot of shit in that apartment on the best of days, but to push it all together.... not cool.
I should be totally thankful for this laptop which will allow me to write the couple of papers that I have to write for not-this-week-but-next-week Monday and Tuesday, and I am. But I am more concerned about complaining about the shit that is happening. It's my first real emergency, and it sucks. I do not like unplanned eventuallities. Especially those which remove me from my creature comforts. Like a microwave.
----------------------------------------
We took off and drove south on I5 today. Just drove in the rain for 160 miles or so, then turned around and came back. I like driving. We found a Shop-ko. It was amazing. And it was just after this stretch of road that looked like western Wisconsin. it was like "how far did we drive?" Shop-ko's not that special, but.... Shop-ko.
I think
goingdriftless will understand.
I might go to the Burke tomorrow and spend some quality time with an exhibition so I can get going on my paper. That will certainly be something, if I can manage that.
