Grab the nearest book to you, turn to page 45, and read the first sentence. It will describe your sex life for 2012.

"They both want to be King of the Jungle someday, but for now they're co-captains of a potted fern." - pattern for Tiny Lions from Teeny-tiny Mochimochi (knitting pattern book)

Happy Christmas, everyone.

Truly, I wish you joy.

I just want to say how in love I am with this morning. 52 degrees at 6 a.m., so I could wear shorts and a t-shirt on my last run of training. Deep blue sky, moon shining through clouds, the smell of fallen leaves in the air. And the promise of a home-made scone with my coffee.

I am in love with this morning.

I felt retro-cute this morning.

I registered and am training for a half marathon. I've decided to make posts about that at my knitting blog (froggy-knittery.blogspot.com) because there's a surprising overlap with knitting and running.

So we're hanging out here, doing the same ole more or less.

I'm going to post this to a sales community, but I figured I'd give you all first crack at them.

I recently changed sizes and have cleaned out my closet. Like... my entire closet. The prices on here are aimed at the community sale and seeing what I can get, but if you like/want something, we can work something out. Swaps also considered!

Lots of everything, XL, 18, 20 mostly )

I had a really good evening. It included this item:

I'm at a 4 way stop, about to turn left. It's pretty empty and definitely my turn to go. There's a car coming from the opposite direction and it looks like they're going to turn where I'm headed to, but it's cool, they've got a yield sign. So I start to turn and I notice this other vehicle is not slowing down. It is barreling through the yield curve, so I hit the brakes. The woman driving is looking out her window at me like, "oh maybe I should have slowed down." I think about hitting the horn, but it's too late for that now - she's far enough ahead that I can start moving again. We drive about 50 feet and then, a thing of beauty. Flashing lights in my rear window. I am 90% sure that I reacted perfectly in what just went down and, sure enough, trooper pulls over the other driver. AWESOME.

I continue on to the gym and all is right in the world.

Summer fitness experiment report #22 )

Vacation is good. We keep doing things! Thursday we spent at the Bay Beach Amusement park and the NEW Zoo in Green Bay. Today we bummed around Sheboygan some, and got ice cream at Culvers. And played badminton in the back yard. Actually, it's like half court badminton. And you know, it's really good. Not just the game, but the hanging out, the great summer weather. This is actually a really nice vacation. Since I was up at 5:45 this morning, I had a 9:30 nap, which was novel. And we have a whole 'nother week of it! It is good.

So I'm on vacation. We left Ellensburg at 6 am on August 12 and arrived in Falls at 6 pm on August 14. Not bad for nearly 2000 miles. We drove pretty much non-stop. Just a couple of overnights, rest areas, and gas stations. We listened to Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book which was really lovely to listen to, and made Montana go by faster.

We're now at Daniel's parents' house, where we will be for the next couple of weeks. Today we're going to go riding on Ozaukee County's Interurban trail.

Last night though, I had a dream about work. A horrible dream where people were in the gallery, moving things around and I couldn't find where stuff was. A Northwest coast mask was leaning against a white board with a spot light on it. I couldn't find the loan objects. I couldn't figure out who authorized the movement and non-museum use of the space. I found some people who had moved food stuff into our storage space and had changed the doors to the type that stop a foot above the floor, and I got into a shouting match with the lead guy in charge, trying to impress on him how important it is that I be consulted before the movement of objects so that it can be done properly and, oh yeah, CHANGE MY DOORS BACK.

Not a fun dream. But the sort of dream that you only have if you are a collections professional. I am so nerdy I worry about proper object care in my sleep. Can I put that on my resume?

VACATION!

I'm not due back at work until the first of September. Oh yeah! Tomorrow morning we start driving east. We need to get to Billings, MT for our hotel - it's about an 11 hour drive. Then we head off to Fargo the next night, and we'll hit Falls on Saturday. Then it's two weeks of who knows what. We don't really have any plans. Not yet.

So excited. I've packed three knitting projects and probably a bunch of books - I've been neglecting Alien Territory lately. I'm way overpacked, but it's alright because we're driving and there are no baggage fees when you drive! Except gas, but bwah.

My dear dear coworker has agreed to take care of the cat and water the lawn, bless her heart. So everything around here will be taken care of.

Got to get up early tomorrow. We've a long way to go.
